A panel quote is only as good as the information behind it. Here's what determines the size and cost of an LT panel — and what to send your manufacturer.
1. Your load schedule
List every outgoing circuit with its rating and duty. The sum, with diversity applied, sets the busbar and incomer rating. Motors, in particular, need their starting method noted (DOL, star-delta, soft-start or VFD).
2. Incomer type and rating
Is the incomer an ACB or MCCB? What continuous current must it carry? This anchors the whole assembly.
3. Fault level (short-circuit withstand)
The prospective short-circuit current at the panel decides the busbar bracing and device breaking capacity. Under-specifying this is unsafe; over-specifying adds cost.
4. Enclosure rating and form of separation
- IP rating — indoor, outdoor or washdown environment.
- Form of separation (Form 1–4) — how far the busbars, devices and terminals are segregated.
- Finish — powder coat, paint or galvanizing for the environment.
Send NIXCO your single-line diagram and load schedule and we'll engineer the panel to match — built and tested in our own factory.
